NIKON D500 LIVE VIEW MANUAL

The manual might say 10 fps CH in Live View, but I did not find that to be true when using the camera.Another nice feature in the Nikon D5000's Live view mode is the full information display optionally available while working in that mode. That may be the setting of interest for shooting sports. LV also shoots in AF-F (Full-time-servo AF: for moving subjects.) I think I actually still had the camera on AF-C and the camera was trying to focus inbetween frames.

If LV only shoots in AF-S that might explain why the frame rate was so slow. There doesn't appear to be a separate note of performance in CH in LV. The manual says on P47 that LV shoots AF-S and also AF-F (Full-time-servo AF: for moving subjects.). LV shoots only AF-S, werent you trying to focus between shots? Which page in the manual gives the maximum fps in Live View?Īre you sure you have CH on the dial, get 10 fps through VF with fast enough SS and then suddenly only 3 fps through LV with everything else the same as before? I'll definitely try it again and experiment with different settings. The frame rate was very slow compared to non-Live View shooting. I was shooting sports and just switched into Live View to shoot a player at a base. The problem might have been that I used AF-C focus. I doubt I did much better than 3 fps in Live View. The manual does indicate many factors might slow the frame rate, but I think I had almost all "automatic" features turned off. The manual might say 10 fps CH in Live View, but I did not find that to be true when using the camera. This is definitely with CH? (QC would be 3 fps. Haven't been able to locate the data in the manual, but seems close to 3 fps.

The key points I've taken from the thread are that there is a viable option to slightly reduce the noise the D500 makes, by using it in Live View. When I saw the Silent Mode option for the D5, I was hoping the D500 would be the same.

Not loud enough to scare the subject, but 10FPS." I could see this as very helpful for bird folk, using a tripod at a moderate distance using a long lens. You can't use continuous AF when doing this in LV. I asked "When taking photos in Live view on the D500, does the mirror go up and down when you press the shutter release (like on virtually every other Nikon DSLR in Live View), or, so far as you can tell, is the only noise that of the shutter?" This was Scott's reply: This could be a great feature for wildlife as it is really quiet." Now, it has silent mode in continuous but very slow and louder. "One thing I have not heard but worth mentioning is that using the new tilt LCD, which I love, you can hold the camera at waist level with Live View and shoot 10fps almost silently.
